Kavita
Kavita Baliga is a recording artist, songwriter, and producer with an M.M. from The Boston Conservatory. Originally a classical soprano, she is most known for working with Grammy®/Academy/BAFTA-winning A.R. Rahman on international film and stage productions, and is the founder of Desi Music Entertainment, LLC, an independent record label that supports South Asian artists and non-film musics from India and Nepal.
Career highlights include collaborations with Shekhar Kapur and Alan Meyerson, touring Europe & India with A.R Rahman, and touring France with Ollivier Leroy.

Lost in the Dark is a modern reimagining of the 80s power ballad, created by Kavita Baliga with Grammy®-winning guitarist Michael Thompson and multi Grammy®-winning mixer and mastering engineer, Craig Bauer and Dave Collins. In an era of 3-minute streaming singles, this track embraces the long form—smooth vocals juxtaposed soaring electric guitar power chords, slow dynamic build, vibey synths with 80s drum pads, and a classic fade-out.
It’s a nostalgic yet defiant statement- In a time when America feels violent and unjust, Lost in the Dark channels the wind-in-your-hair, driving-with-your-friends feeling of nostalgia and resilience. With sonic nods to icons of the era, it is both a deeply personal story of ‘becoming’ and a hopeful reminder of who we once were.
Michael Thompson, as one of the very architects of that era, having played on Celine Dion's "Power of Love," and Michael Bolton's "When a Man Loves a Woman," brings Lost in the Dark to life, creating a full-circle connection to the era that inspired it.
